Program Vision, Mission Statement and Philosophy of the care Program
Program Vision

The Norman Recollet Health Centre -Primary Care Clinic is committed to delivering quality health services that are deeply rooted in culture, supporting individuals, children, families, and the broader community on their path to Mino Bimaadiziwin (the good life). Furthermore, The Norman Recollet Health Centre (NRHC) Home and Community Care Program embraces a holistic wellness approach within a circle of care, providing high-quality services that respect the dignity, autonomy, and safety of clients throughout all stages of life.

Mission Statement

The Norman Recollet Health Centre Primary Care Clinic and Home and Community Care program on Wahnapitae First Nation is a community-based Mino Bimaadiziwin Team that promotes, prevents, protects, and provides holistic, accessible, quality services guided by Anishinaabe values through the assessment of community needs and polices that promote health and traditional practices.

The Norman Recollet Home and Community Care program will not replace but enhance the services / care provided by community partners such as Ontario Home at Heath along with family support.

The NRHC HCC program will support a holistic approach to promote individuals’ autonomy to stay in their homes while receiving care. This is aligned with WFN and our community partnership.

Vision Guiding Principles
  • Health is a priority for the Wahnapitae First Nations Members and community members.
  • Health services will be collectively planned with the community members, staff and governance.
  • WFN members have a choice in which health services they would like to receive.
  • Ongoing networking and collaboration with community partnerships will enhance the quality of care.
  • Integrated healing approaches, including traditional, alternative, and conventional methods, will be respected and supported.

Philosophy of the Care program

Our values are deeply rooted in Anishinabek knowledge, practices, and our unique ways of knowing, doing, and being. Elders play an essential role in our community, offering their wisdom and expertise to guide community engagement. The NRHC works in collaboration with Wahnapitae First Nation’s governance structures to support ceremonies and cultural practices. Our language, Anishinaabemowin, is deeply connected to our culture, land, spirit, history, ceremony, and overall well-being. We are committed to incorporating Anishinaabemowin into our practices, alongside medical treatments within the NRHC Primary Care Clinic and NRHC Home and Community Care (HCC) program.
